Future Solar and Lunar Eclipses

Here is a CALENDAR of future solar and lunar eclipses in the next 10 years.

The next total solar eclipse that can be seen from North America (mostly Canada) is August 22-23, 2044.

For much of the United States, a total solar eclipse will be visible August 12, 2045.

The next total lunar eclipse visible from the contiguous United States is March 13-14, 2025.

2024 Total Solar Eclipse

On April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse crossed North America, passing over Mexico, the United States, and Canada. A total solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, completely blocking the face of the Sun. The sky darkens as if it were dawn or dusk.
