Local Reference Map - Terminology
Locally, weather forecasters, particularly on TV stations, refer to geographic regions in New Mexico as Eastern NM, Western NM, etc. They will also reference such terms such central mountain ranges, upper Rio Grande Valley, etc. The map below will give you a general reference point for these terms. Santa Fe County straddles the reference regions of Northern New Mexico and Central New Mexico.
