Details:
At 702 PM CST, Emergency management reported thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area and flooded. Between 1 and 3
inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch
are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring.

HAZARD...Flash flooding.

SOURCE...Emergency management.

IMPACT...Rapid-onset flooding of creeks, streams, drainage
ditches, streets, underpasses, low-lying areas, and
other poor drainage areas.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Hammond, Gary, Tinley Park, Calumet City, Portage, Merrillville,
Chicago Heights, East Chicago, Schererville, Hobart, Lansing, Oak
Forest, Harvey, Highland, Munster, Dolton, Park Forest, Homewood,
Matteson and Mokena.

Emergency management reports roads flooded in Munster, Indiana.

Information:
A Flash Flood Warning means rapid-onset flooding is imminent or may
already be occurring. Persons along creeks, drainage ditches, and
other waterways should take immediate precautions to protect life
and property.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE...Portions of northeast Illinois, including the following
counties, Cook, Kankakee and Will and northwest Indiana, including
the following county, Lake IN.

* WHEN...Until 900 PM CST.

* IMPACTS...Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.
Underpasses may be flooded. Roads and streets may be flooded.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 703 PM CST, Emergency management reported roads flooded in
Munster, Indiana due heavy rainfall from thunderstorms.
Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over
the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Joliet, Hammond, Gary, Tinley Park, Calumet City, Portage,
Merrillville, Chicago Heights, East Chicago, Schererville,
Hobart, Lansing, Crown Point, Harvey, New Lenox, Highland,
